File move Ninja – How to copy files to iPad
When you want to copy files to iPad, or if you want to learn how to copy files to iPhone, there is no real need for you to worry too much about how you are going to be able to do this. It really isn’t a big deal to move or copy files because the developers of all applications designed for IOS devices, know that we need to be able to do this simple task. If you have been used to using the idea of folders and using your file management software such as Finder on the Mac for moving your files from one place to another, you might have to think a little bit differently. There are good and easy ways to copy files to iPod or iPad, which can involve using file management software, although often it is taken care of by other methods.
One method of copying files to iPhone, iPad or iPod touch would be to use Dropbox. This method combines using your Finder where you are dragging and dropping files into a folder with the synchronisation service offered by Dropbox, which then links up with a Dropbox app that you use on your iOS device. There is also Dropbox for Android, so you can use this method for moving files to android if you desire.
The nuts and bolts of how to copy files to iPad without iTunes by using Dropbox is to: -
- Drag-and-drop your file you wish to copy into the folder or subfolder in your Dropbox account on your computer.
- Let Dropbox push that file to your Dropbox folder in the cloud.
- Open your Dropbox application on your iOS device or Android and select the file that you want and allow it to download to Dropbox on the device.
- Use the Open In button in Dropbox to send that file from Dropbox, to the application where you want to use it.
ZumoDrive – another way to copy files to iPod
With ZumoDrive you can set up linked folders on your PC or Mac computer. All you have to do is to drag and drop files into those folders and they will be uploaded to the ZumoDrive cloud file service. When you want to copy files to iPod Touch or copy files to iPad, same as with Dropbox, you drag and drop those files into the specific folder and let them upload. Then you can open up the ZumoDrive application on your iDevice and download the files and have them ready for use on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. You will find that ZumoDrive is available for the Mac, Windows and also for Linux and you will get 2 GB storage space for free to start you off. If you have this 2 GB for free from ZumoDrive and another 2 GB for free from Dropbox, what you can do is to set separate folders to synchronise with each service. You could have your documents folder with text files using one service and then have the other service be for your image files. You also have available iCloud if you are Mac user to give you another 5 GB of free cloud storage space. This is a good way to organise yourself to have backups of your documents and also easy file sharing.
Don’t worry, be happy
So I suggest that you don’t worry too much about moving files either to or from the iDevices that you have, it really isn’t a problem. If you want to copy files from iPod to computer, you can do it. Even if you want to copy files from iPhone to PC, easy peasy, no problem. On account of the fact that there are so many different applications and there are numerous ways of transferring files to iPad or iPhone, often the best way to see how to move your files or copy files to mobile devices is to have a play with the applications to see what is available. It is even possible with some applications to import and export work you have in Google Docs and do this to copy file to iPad or for copying files to iPad . I was thinking the other day about what I would do to move iPad files to my iPhone, or how I would go from iPod to iPad. I suppose that Dropbox would be my preferred way to move an iPad file.
